Site updates…

May 21, 2009

As some of you out there may have noticed, or maybe not, there’s a shiny new banner up at the top of the page and some cool new links. I’m in the process of switching over from AnAmericanGirlinParis to blogging here again this summer. I get back to Austin June 1st and leave June 3rd to road trip across the eastern half of the US up to Boston, where I’ll be from June 6th all summer. S and I have all sorts of fun stops planned out, including several sweet roadfood places. I can’t wait to tell you all about it and to have access to S’s awesome, awesome camera. See you all in the states in 10 days!

Oh, and in other exciting news, Military Wife is preggers, which means I’m gonna have my first niece in early July. I cannot even explain my level of excitement. Belly pictures to come ASAP!

Going on Hiatus

August 16, 2008

I’m sad to officially say that this blog is on hiatus. This is something I’ve been thinking about for a long time (I actually haven’t forgotten that I had a blog). I didn’t write this summer for a lot of reasons, the primary one being a lack of time. During the school year, I have a lot of nights without a lot of things to do, whereas during the summer basically, all my free time is either taken up enjoying the three months of the year the boy and I live less than 30 minutes away from each other or catching up on family time.

I’m leaving for Paris in 2 weeks and have officially switched over to blogging only at An American Girl in Paris. That blog doesn’t mention this one for various keeping my family out of my life at school reasons.

I’m hoping that sometime in the next few days I’ll put up a photo summary of my summer, but given the insanity of preparing to move to another country, I am making no promises.

Until then, good night and good luck, as it were.

A Love Story (but not mine)…

May 2, 2008

As promised, a post about the planning of my best friend’s wedding shower, but first I wanted to give you a bit of background on the happy couple. First of all, she has been my best friend since third grade. We met in our homeroom class and became best friends over my parent’s divorce. If I were home, I could show you some sweet embarrassing pictures of the two of us in matching outfits at renaissance fairs and Sea World. We’ve been together through everything, from father daughter dances to first kisses (hers at least a year before mine) to first true loves to first heartbreaks to (now) a marriage. She is one of the most brave, sweet, loving, genuine and hilarious people I know. And quite a looker:

She met her boy at a church retreat right before our senior year. He is really nice and makes her so happy, which is really all I could ask for in my best friend’s partner. Aren’t they cute:

Anyways, they started dating the summer before our senior year of high school and have been pretty much inseparable since. He joined the Air Force last fall and is in training in Florida. They had a quick-y courthouse wedding when he was on Christmas break with just family and me and the boy present. They’re planning on doing a more formal church ceremony and reception. In honor of that event and in celebration of their new life together, I’m throwing her a shower with our friends.

And to leave you, here they are in the most adorable e-pic ever:

So, hopefully sometime this weekend I’ll take a break from my finals studying to post about the wonderful shower I’m sooo excited to be planning for her.

P.S. All the picks came from her facebook, natch.

April 24, 2008

Earlier this week I had a great post planned out. I’m pretty sure it was about the wedding shower I’m planning for my best friend. However, on Tuesday afternoon, I had an anaphylactic reaction and spent 7 hours in the emergency room. There is something in chemistry labs that gives me a severe allergic reaction. Anyways, I’m still alive. I’ll be back sometime next week when I’m feeling better. Also MlleChampagne is an amazing friend. She came to get me at the hospital, bringing my computer and blanket, even after I told her she didn’t need to. She also kept my mom and the boy updated since my phone had no service and the meds I was on made me pass out. I love having such amazing friends.

The internet is crack…

April 8, 2008

I’ve decided that it has been far too long since I’ve posted. There is no real excuse for this except for that the internet is crack. I recently discovered Google Reader and it has consumed my soul. I would show you a picture of my room to illustrate what I have been living in, but it is too terrifying to show you. Instead, this is my door. Look on my flickr if you want descriptions of what everything is. It all has a story.

In honor of my internet addiction, I’ve decided to show some love to my favorite sites. Some are small personal blogs, some large editorials, but all are blogs I love. Check them out, they’re awesome.

Cooking Blogs:

I hope all these links gave you some idea about me and what I’m interested in. I also have way more to talk about, but I am trying to spread it out over several days. Here’s a taste of posts to come:
